The Fran Jones of Great Britain collapses on the pitch in the Colsanitas Cup of Colombia

Great Britain Fran Jones was helped off the pitch in a wheelchair after collapsing during a game in Colombia.

The 24 -year -old was trying to serve in the ninth match of a third decisive set in Bogota when he fell to the ground.

Jones, the British number five, was unable to finish the game of the first round of the Colsanitas Cup.

“Due to a physical problem, Francesca Jones withdrew from her match against Julia Riera at 6-2 5-7 5-3 in favor of the Argentine”, read a declaration of the Cultsanitas Cup.

“We wish the British tennis player a speedy recovery.”

Meanwhile, Heather Watson is out of the Charleston Open after a straight defeat of Iryna Shymanovich in the first round.

The British number seven was beaten 7-6 (10-8) 6-4 by the number of the Belarusian world 215.
