The head of American trade admits “Runing up the Score” with withdrawals in Australia

At the beginning of the hearing, Greer repeated the long-standing complaints about the refusal of Australia to accept the exports of American meat and pig-pig-a affirmation which is partially contested by Canberra-after having been questioned about a republican senator by Texas, John Cornyn.
“It is always surprising because we have a free trade agreement with Australia and we would expect that we would have a fair and mutual trade,” said Greer. “It’s not just beef. Australia also blocks – on false science, land – the export of fresh and frozen American pork. It is incredible that they do it.”
Australia prohibited the imports of American beef in 2003 due to the concerns for crazy cow’s disease and the free trade agreement was issued in 2005. The ban on fresh American beef was technically revoked in 2019, but imports remain at zero due to the concerns of American meat from elsewhere and integrated into the supply chain.
The complaint has been constantly raised in commercial negotiations over the years, also in the interviews with the Trump administration. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that the country will not move on biosyphicity.

“Australia does not prohibit imports of beef from the United States,” said the Department of Australian agriculture in a note. “The import conditions in Australia are currently available for beef products from born cattle, raised and massacred in the United States.
“The United States have asked to expand their access to the Australian market to include beef products from cattle from Mexico and Canada and legally important in the United States for export.
“The evaluation of Australia for this addition of US request is progressing. The US exporters have not started trade in existing import conditions in Australia in the meantime.”

The basic rate of 10 % for almost all US commercial partners began on the weekend. The so -called mutual rates, which go beyond 10 %, should start on Wednesday in the United States.
US rates on China will also increase another 50 % to a 104 % cumulative total, after China refused to respect Trump’s demand to withdraw their retaliation.
Karoline Leavitt, press secretary of the White House Karoline, despite the “fear of the media”, almost 70 countries had put in touch with the administration to open commercial negotiations.
“The countries are falling on themselves to reform their unjust and free commercial practices open their markets to our country. Why? Because these countries are very respecting President Trump and the pure power of the American market,” he said.
Leavitt said that Trump ordered his commercial team on Tuesday (Wednesday Aedt) to have “tailor -made agreements with every single country that recalls this administration to conclude an agreement”.
Affairs would only be done if they benefited from American workers and would have turned to the commercial deficits of the United States, he said.
