The helicopter accident in the Hudson River in New York leaves us six deaths, including three children: latest updates

We have FDNY resources right here and we immediately launched our boats. This operation was a joint operation between FDNY and NYPD. Our rescue swimmers were in water shortly after the call and recovered some victims. We worked closely with the nypd divers on this and I think this tragic day indicates how the spirit of cooperation between the NYPD and the FDNY is alive on the streets and in the water.
Commissioner Fdny Robert Tucker

I saw him fall from heaven! I heard five or six strong noises that seemed almost on firearms in the sky and I saw the pieces fall, then I saw him fall into the river.

“It’s devastation,” said Michael Roth, New York Helicopter Tours. “I am a father and a grandfather and to have children there, I am devastated. I am absolutely devastated.
“The only thing I know watching a video of the helicopter that falls, that the main blades of the rotor were not on the helicopter,” Roth said visibly shocked. “And I haven’t seen anything like that in my 30 years in business, in the helicopter sector. The only thing I could guess – I had no idea – is that either had a strike of the birds or the shovels of the main rotor have failed. I have no idea. I don’t know.”
