The justin Steele puppies jugs lands on the wound list with the elbow tendonitis

Chicago-I Cubs from Chicago placed the appetizer for Mancini Justin Steele on the 15-day wound list, back-as-April 8, with tendonitis of the left elbow.

It is the same designation of injuries that Steele got on the AL in September – a period that lasted 17 days. That story contributed to the Cubs decision to adopt a cautious approach again with Steele.

“We will take the conservative route here,” said manager Craig Counsell. “He had symptoms of an injury that he lived last year. For this reason, rather than making him focus on his next start, I think it is better to withdraw and make sure he recovers in a good place. (We are) we hope it is the minimum and can be ready to go in a couple of weeks.”

Steele has an era 4.76 in four departures (22 inning 2/3) this season, but is coming out of its best of the season. On Monday, Steele allowed only three shots as he launched seven inning Shatouts in the 7-0 victory of the Cubs over Texas Rangers. The game time temperature in Wrigley Field that evening was 34 degrees with twenty at 17 mph, making it even colder.

“We had some long inning in there,” said Counsell. “He said he felt good to go out there. A little he felt him in the middle of that beginning, fifth, sixth (inning). I think he himself was a little confused,” Is the cold or is my elbow? “”

Steele said that “he would certainly have said” when he was asked if the cold was a factor that contributes, observing that his speed, together with most launchers during the cold in this house, was falling. He described his feelings as “frustration” to be put on the Ail and hoped that it would be a minimum stay. He arrived on Tuesday, planning to work as usual to start his next West Coast trip of the team.

“(I) I told the trainers that I wanted to enter and do many recovery things,” said Steele. “Do everything possible to start the recovery process. They asked how I was and I said:” It’s a little sore, a little tight. “They made the decision to go on and put me in the.”

Steele has been the most coherent appetizer of the CUBS in recent years, bursting in 2023 when it delivered a 3.06 in 173 1/3 inning while finished fifth place in Cy Young votes. Last season, he lost a month after having tried the left knee tendon on the opening day. Even with that injury and the tendonitis of the elbow that occurred in September, it still gave the puppies 134 inning 2/3 with a 3.07 era.

Steele should obtain a magnetic resonance imaging on Thursday. In a corresponding move, the puppies called the lifter for the right hand Ethan Roberts. The Cubs are outside Thursday before a six -games trip, during which the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres will face. Subsequently, they have three days of rest within eight days, so the team may have to cover only a start if Steele has not lost the minimum time.

“We have a temporary plan,” said Counsell. “This means that we still have to understand it. This point comes – we have to talk about Sunday, essentially on Monday.”

Colin Rea, who ate inning from Bullpen, is a logical option to start. Depending on the form of the bullpen, they could simply lean on the rescuers for a game. If the Cubs decide to make another roster move, the most logical option to the triple A would be Jordan Wicks, who is already on the roster of 40 men.
