The labor legislator in the United Kingdom suspended from the party after arrest

On Saturday, the British government Labor Party said she had suspended Dan Norris, one of his legislators in Parliament, after being arrested by the police.
Morris “was immediately suspended by the Labor Party after being informed of his arrest,” said the party in a declaration, adding that “he cannot comment further while the police investigations are underway”.
The party did not specify because Mr. Norris, 65, had been arrested and did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Saturday.
In Great Britain, the police in general does not reveal the name of suspicions unless they are accused. BBC said Mr. Norris was arrested With suspicion of rape, sexual crimes on minors, kidnapping of minors and misconduct conducted in a public office.
In a declaration that did not give names, the Avon and Somerset police said that a 60 -year -old man was arrested on Friday for suspicion of sexual crimes against a girl, rape, a kidnapping of minors and a bad conduct in a public office. The police said she was released on a conditional deposit.
“In December 2024, we received a postponement from another police force relating to alleged sexual crimes of non -recent minors who were committed against a girl,” said the police declaration.
“It is assumed that most of the crimes occurred in the 2000s, but we are also investigating an alleged crime of rape in the 1920s,” he added. The police said the investigations were “in progress and in an initial phase”.
The move of the Labor Party should mean that Mr. Norris, waiting for the investigations, be actually suspended from representing the party in the Chamber of Municipalities.
Last year Norris won a seat in Parliament representing the North East Somerset and Hanham, near the city of Bristol, defeating a former conservative minister, Jacob Rees-Mogg.
Norris is also the mayor of western England, head of the administration of different cities in a western region, a position he has held since 2021, although he is not running for the re -election when this assignment is contested on May 1st.
His political career dates back to more than two decades. Norris was a legislator from 1997 to 2010, representing the Wansdyke headquarters, western England. He was assistant of the whip in Tony Blair’s government from 2001 to 2003 and a junior minister in the Department for the Environment, food and rural affairs from 2009 to 2010, under Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
