The Masters 2025 Live: Ranking and Tee Times for the Round 1 while Rory Mcilroy starts the search for the green jacket in Augusta

“The thing of Augusta is because the slopes are so large and so many channels, so many shots end up in the same points”, Michael Kim said on X After a practice with Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson.

“That’s why you feel the saying that you don’t read Putts, remember the puts in Augusta. You have very similar puts year after year at the pin if you play it enough.

“Phil had many notes for many puts in his Yardage book. This is slow, this breaks here but then breaks in this way. I tried to write them all on my book. Dj was also really nice to give information.”

The Masters has no intention of creating an exemption for Golf Liv players, according to the Fred Ridley tournament chair.

The US Open and Open Championship announced in February that the leading player, not already exempt, in the Breakaway ranking financed by the Saudis would earn respectively a place on the field in Oakmont and Royal Portrush.

However, speaking in his pre-three annual press conference in Augusta National, Ridley indicated that the Masters would continue to rely on his invited event status.

“As for the USGA and the R&A, they certainly act independently,” said Ridley. “We respect their decisions.

“We are an invitation tournament. Historically we have considered special cases for invitations for international players, and this is how Joaquin Niemann has been invited in the last two years.

“We believe we can face this problem, whether it is a player Liv or a player in some other tour that otherwise could not be suitable for an invitation, which we can manage it with a special invitation.”

A Masters golf coach underwent a problematic start to the tournament after being escorted by Augusta for having broken a surprise golden rule.

The coach of Arizona State University Matt Thurmond is at this year Masters together with the nascent Spanish amateur star Josele Ballester, but was left by the red face after a fashion error forced him to separate from his player during a last minute test session in front of the major.

In the midst of all the excitement in Georgia, Thurmond let the ferocious guidelines of Augusta would slide his memory and showed up on the path wearing shorts – a sin of seismic proportion.

Even in practice days, shorts are severely prohibited in Augusta, something that Thurmond evidently has forgotten, with eyes concentrated exclusively on pre-major preparations.

Bad news for Scottie Scheffler’s rivals this week. The dominant world n. 1 says he feels fully prepared for a tournament for the first time this season.

Scheffler has lost the beginning of the season due to surgery for a strange hand injury suffered while preparing the Christmas dinner, but now it is completely fit and has come according to the Houston Open a couple of weeks ago.

“I would say that I feel very prepared for this golf tournament,” said Scheffler. “This is certainly the best prepared I tried all year round.

“I talked a lot about my preparation and I intensified the Pebble T -shirt (beach) feeling as if I were not exactly where I was when I ended the year just because I took so much free time.

“This year that has had an injury was certainly a different feeling from what I have had in recent years. But as regards the preparation, this is certainly as prepared as I felt going to any event this year and I am excited to make the tournament go.”
