The next Wallabies coach is a mystery, and the current one is in a vote of silence

The second problem came through Schmidt’s decision not to do interviews with the media until the new coach is announced, except for some torn moments on the guest station Stan Sport. The Kiwi coach does not want to meddle in the process by offering comments on a replacement, the explanation has arrived.

But where the search for a new coach and silence from the current one- initially had to end quickly, now we are in April- and the largest rugby tour on our coasts in a dozen of years is now just 81 days later.

Schmidt did not make an average interview open from 1 December 2024-Cinque months ago-quinds can only guess the opinions of the Wallabies coach on topics such as the recovery of the Australian super rugby teams, some potential bolts (it deserves an attempt), Wallabys linked abroad and his opinion on the potential Lions teams after the recent six nations. And so on and so on.

In short, it helps to generate buzzing and hype on the Lions tour. Ticket sales are strong but they are a part of a rare opportunity for rugby this winter – to dominate the national sports conversation.

Les Kiss remains the Frontunner, but the former England coach Stuartra Lancaster emerged from the left field as a possible crew companion.

For months, RA’s bosses stressed that they want to put together the best possible coaching group, moving away from the habit of eliminating the head of the Wallabies coach.

This is not great news for Michael Cheika, a proven winner but also a strong and “a garment” style coach.

Lancaster entered the photo when a senior figure from Wallabies made him float at the end of last year who applied for the Reds work, if Kiss replaced Schmidt.

Lancaster is better known in Australia for a disastrous England accident in the phases of the swimming pool of its Rugby World Cup in 2015, courtesy of the Wallabies.

As his substitute, Eddie Jones then brought England to 18 consecutive victories, Lancaster moved to the Irish province of Powerhouse Leinster, where he was a “senior coach” – actually head coach – for seven successful seasons. Respecting by the main players as an excellent practical coach, Lancaster then moved to Racing 92 in Paris, with whom he separated at the end of January.

With strong connections in Ireland in Schmidt and Kiss, and the British Mike Catt and Geoff Parling already in the Australian system, RA are interested in involving Lancaster.

But after 2015, sell Lancaster as a new Wallabies coach – in particular when the job is training the host nation in an RWC – it would be an Herculean task for RA.
