The numbers do not lie: because the super rugby is the best world of world club

That line of investigation led Perrin to the number of lead changes, to the number of bursting matches in which the winning margin is 25 points or more (28 % of the Super Games last year and less than 10 % this year), the number of changes late and the number of games in which the result of last year has been canceled this season.
In almost all statistical categories, Super Rugby Pacific is beating the top 14 and the Rugby United championship.
“I examined the last three seasons and compared the results of a season with the same games of the previous season,” says Perrin.
“Generally there is about a third of the games that have the reversed result. This is for the previous seasons of the Super Rugby, and it is also true for the URC and the top 14 in the previous seasons and also in this season.
“In Super Rugby, this season it is more than half of the games. It is between 50 % and 60 % have the inverse results.”
Perrin launches some other numbers in the mix to firm the general image. The number of games in which a team has guided to the end has decreased drastically, from 27 % in 2023 and 35 % in 2024 to about 15 % this season.
The medium number of lead changes has also increased, about four, and again this is higher than the figures in the top 14 and the URC, which see about three lead changes a game.
But probably the killer statistics are the following. “In Super Rugby this season, it is almost 20 % of the games that have a change of advantage in the last five minutes and over 30 % in the last 10 minutes.”
These are the type of ingredients that the scores of the armchair is but the broadcasters love.
Perrin says: “The irreducible fans could go whatever happens, and if they go what they care about is the victory of their team. They don’t care if it is predictable or not.
“I spent many years in Dublin and I wouldn’t leave less if he expected Leinster to win, I was just happy that they were winning. I would not complain that it was predictable.
“But for occasional fans who are going to a game or simply turning on the TV and watching only a random game, that game is unpredictable is important for them.
“They are more likely to look at if they don’t know what will happen.”
