The Survivor Teeny Chirichillo star comes out like a transgender man – says that the reality show helped him find his identity
Survivor Star Teeny Chirichillo came out like a transgender man.
Chirichillo, 24, who competed in season 47 of the reality show, opened on how public speculation on his gender identity he hit him in a personal essay in Cosmopolitan.
“The state of my life since then Survivor It was full of uncertainty. I did not come back from a spouse or a full -time career, as many of my castlemates have done, “Chirichillo said.
“People theorized how the producers would adapt, within the parameters of the divisions of historically gender tribes, to a non -binary competitor.” He wrote.
“The invasive questions about my biology, driven by my androgynia, were not what made my corstable stomach sink – if anything, those to whom I come back the places,” he continued. “What made me dizzy was the pressure for me to be represented as the first openly non -binary Survivor player.”
He added: “But on my backpack, stuck under the aircraft seat, it was a pink ribbon – that gave me from the production team – because I had never declared anything that I indicated that I was not a cisgender girl. Before flying outside, I made a choice: I was not ready to launch myself in labeling in any way for the first time on national television.”
Chirichillo continued to admit that they had opened a little to his cast when they were shooting in the Figi.
“I told them about the consultation of the best surgery that I had had a few days before leaving America, of how my boobs were part of my body that I never wanted and how fun it was that the final act of my boobs on the earth was running around for a jungle that was lying to people,” he wrote.
“Season 47 began on the air. And immediately, my lack of clarity seemed to bleed through the screen and infect all the commentators of the show with the same confusion that I felt inside,” continued Chirichillo. “Queer and Trans People I was messages with preventive gratitude, while I had flashbacks guilty to declare myself as the leader of the alliance for all girls.”
At some point, Chirichillo decided to update his bio of Instagram with pronouns, “she/them”. However, this has only pushed more external noise.

“I don’t expect everyone to reach the same level of ease with my kind I arrived after a life of suppression and then explore the childhood in my soul. But I know who I am,” he added.
