The toll of the victims of the Myanmar earthquake is at the top of 1,000 as international aid begin to arrive
International aid began to arrive in Myanmar on Saturday while the rescuers sought the survivors after a powerful earthquake devastated the nation of the South -East Asia, with fears that the victims’ balance will go up.
Already the number of people reported dead in Myanmar passed abruptly from 144, as reported by the state media on Friday to 1,002, according to the military government of the country. Other 2,376 people are reported wounds, with another 30 missing.
The government suggested that the numbers could continue to rise, saying that “detailed figures are still collected”.
“Infrastructures such as roads, bridges and buildings have been affected, leading to victims and accidents among civilians. Research and rescue operations are currently underway in the affected areas,” said the junta in a statement issued on the state media.
The leader of the junta, General Min Aung Hlaing, had warned more deaths and injuries while inviting “any country” to provide help and donations.
A Chinese rescue team arrived on Saturday while Russia and the United States offered help in the disaster, which hit lunchtime on Friday and damaged hundreds of buildings in nearby Thailand.

The predictive modeling of the United States Geological Service (USGS) estimated that the victims’ balance could exceed 10,000 people in Myanmar and that losses could be higher than the value of the country’s gross domestic product.
Susan Hough, a scientist from the Esgs earthquake program, told Reuters that it was difficult to predict the budget of the victims of an earthquake, for various reasons including timing.
When an earthquake hits during the day, as in Myanmar, “people are awake, they have their talent on them, they are more able to respond,” he said.
In search of workers in rubble in Torre
Much of the devastation was in the second largest city in Myanmar, Mandalay, near the epicenter of the earthquake.
In the Thai capital of Bangkok, 1,000 kilometers from the epicenter, a rescue mission was intensified on Saturday to find construction workers trapped under the rubble of a 33 -storey tower collapsed.
A powerful earthquake shook the South -est Asia on Friday, killing several people, breaking down a skyscraper under construction in Bangkok and overturning buildings in the nearby Myanmar, where the dominant junta has declared a state of emergency in some areas.
A team of 37 Chinese people landed in Yangon, a former capital of Myanmar, early on Saturday, transporting medicines and equipment to detect signs of life with them, said the Chinese embassy in a Facebook post.
Russia said she was sending 120 expert rescuers, as well as doctors and research dogs, according to the Tass state press agency.
The President of the United States Donald Trump declared on Friday that he had spoken with Myanmar officials and that his administration would have provided some form of assistance.
Hough, who worked in Myanmar on the local seismology network, said that the mix of the country of modern structures and traditional buildings would also play a role. Traditional buildings “will be less potentially fatal than concrete,” he said.
The Thai authorities said nine people had died and that 101 were missing from Bangkok, mostly workers trapped in the rubble of the collapsed tower.
“We will do everything, we will not give up saving lives, we will use all the resources,” said the governor of Bangkok Chadchart Sittipunt on the site on Saturday, while the excavators have moved debris and drones have patrolled the rubble for the search for survivors.
On Friday the ground of the Thai capital Friday and Chadchart said that hundreds of people spent the night in the city parks, but said the situation was improving.
