The western Michigan rises to the “largest stage”, wins the first national hockey championship

St. Louis – While the championship game of Owen Michaels, sealing empty Netter, went to the end of the third period of Thursday, the western Michigan striker ran on the bench and jumped over the scoreboards.

“You are proud to arrive here, but you want to finish the job,” said Terrier coach Jay Pandolfo, who won a title at Boston University as a player. “So it hurts. I really feel for our players more than anything else because it is difficult and it is special to win this thing.

“I want to see those guys experiment with him. And we will continue to knock on the door.”

The western Michigan coach Pat Ferschweiler, a former Broncos captain, is very proud to bring the program to the next level. And he will probably attract a certain interest in the NHL openings in this offseason, such as David Carle di Denver. The Broncos eliminated the Charge in chargers 3-2 in extraordinary double Thursday, with Carle then said. “They showed that I am the best team in the country.”

This was a close game in the third period, with the broncos that entered with an advantage of 3-2. Wyatt Schingoethe started two minutes from the beginning of the deflection. Cole Eiseman responded to Boston University Imbottindo in a rebound. After taking an advantage 3-1, the goalkeeper of Western Michigan Hampton Slukynsky gave up a second goal in a rebound dissolved in the fold.

The terrier seemed to cut the advantage to a goal with eight minutes from the end while Matt Copponi launched himself on a rebound of a blow of Nick Roukounakis and pushed him through Slukynsky. There was an official review, but the call on ice (no goal) remained. Pandolfo almost skipped on the bench before the review.

“They said he was linked,” said Pandolfo. “So he exploded the whistle. I didn’t see the replay, so I’m not sure exactly as if he were. Someone said he was at the top of his pad and pushed him inside.”

Western Michigan University won its first national title in its first frozen appearance, defeating the five-time Champs Boston University 6-2.

Broncos-in fans particularly their student section “Lawson Lunatics”-they travel really well, conquering the exhausted crowd of 16,953. “They look at their name every night,” said Washe. “It looked like a game at home.”

“They are crazy,” said goalkeeper Slukynsky.

“It seemed that half of the city was here,” Ferschweiler said.

Cole Crusberg-Roseen, Ty Henricks and Iiro Hakkarainen have also marked for western Michigan. Michaels, who scored two goals in 38 games last year, scored three times in these four frozen. This included the double OT winner on Denver Thursday. Michaels gained the most extraordinary honors tournament.

“Oh (Michaels), oh friend, where to start?” Washe said. “The biggest stage, the big players present themselves, and that’s what he did.”
