Thomas Muller to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season
Germany Great Thomas Muller will end its 25 -year -old association with Bayern Munich at the end of the current season.
The 35 -year -old played the most games in the history of the club with 743, while he is third in the list of markers of all time with 247 goals.
The striker’s midfielder, who also plays as a second striker, arrived through the Bayern Academy to make his Senior debut in 2008 and won two championships of champions and 12 Bundesliga titles between 33 trophies in total with the German giants.
“It was an incredible journey, modeled by unique experiences, great meetings and unforgettable triumphs,” said Muller, whose contract ends in June.
“I feel immense gratitude and joy of having made this career with my beloved club. The special bond with the club and our fantastic fans will always remain.
“What I want as farewell should be clear: the titles that we can celebrate together and we will remember with affection for a long time. We will give everything in the coming weeks to report the title of the championship in Munich.”
Muller, who scored 45 goals for Germany in 131 appearances, won the gold boot at the 2010 World Cup and was part of the German team that won the 2014 World Cup.
“I could easily imagine taking this role (also with Bayern) next year,” he admitted, while the CEO of Club Jan-Christian Dresen said: “The most important thing is that we found a mutual solution.
“Thomas Muller is one of the greatest personalities of the players that this club has produced, and therefore it was important for us to find a fair and friendly agreement.”
Muller proved to be 24 times for the Bavarian dress in the Bundesliga in this countryside, scoring once, but only started on eight occasions.
Bayern Munich said that Muller’s departure would have marked with a testimony and his last opportunity to play competitively will arrive during the Fifa Club World Cup in the United States, which begins on June 15th.
Herbert Hainer, president of Bayern Munich, said: “Thomas Muller is the definition of favor career.
Sports director Christoph Freund said: “Thomas Muller: no makeup, no show, only an incredible amount of instinct and extraordinary reading of the game – a pure footballer. There will never be another like him, this is certain, and has internalized the FC Bayern with a young age. This decision was extremely difficult, as everyone can understand.”
Bayern has an advantage of nine points on Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga and faces Inter in quarter -finals of the Champions League.
