Men are accused of conducting an armed coup d’état, targeting the president of the DRC Félix TSHiseKedi and the deputy prime minister for the Vitale Kamerhe economy, attacking both the Nation Palais de la – the official house and the main workplace of the president – and Kamerhe’s Private Home in Kinshasa, Drc.
At least six people died during the attack, including two police officers who protect Kamerhe’s house and at least one innocent civil.
The Doj stated that the goal of the operation was to kill President Félix TSHisekedi, Kamerhe and others, to establish a new government known as the new Zaire and the installation of the leader Christian Malanga, who died during the coup, as president of the new Zaire.

Marcel Malanga identified himself as the “head of the staff of the Zaire Army“; Polun was the head of Christian Malanga staff; Moesser was the producer, technician and explosive supplier; and Thompson was a soldier, a drone specialist and an operator, according to the complaint.
Christian Malanga, Marcel Malanga, Thompson, Polun and Moesser presumably conspired to provide material support and resources including services, training, advice or assistance of experts, communication equipment, weapons, explosives and staff of the rebellious army that had been trained to overthrow the government of the RDC.

The Doj also accused the men of having conspired to acquire and use mass destruction weapons during the coup.
Presumably they planned to use bombs that could be lined up at their goals, including people, private houses and public buildings, through drones.

Malanga, Thompson and Polun should make their initial appearances at the Federal Court of Brooklyn, New York. Moesser should make his initial appearance on April 10 at the Federal Court of Salt Lake City, in Utah.
After their initial appearances in New York, Malanga, Thompson and Polun will be expected to appear in Salt Lake City for further legal proceedings.
The case was investigated by the Office on the field of the FBI Salt Lake City, with the assistance of the FBI Office of the FBI New York and the FBI legal office in Nairobi, Kenya, which supervises the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
