Time in Catalunya: Primaz Roglic wins the second title in the final phase in Barcelona

Slovenia’s Primez Roglic sealed his second time a Catalunya title in three years with the victory in the seventh and last phase of Barcelona.

Rogic, who won the vault in 2023, closed 14 seconds from the Belgian duo Laurens de Plus and Lennert Van Eetvelt on the 88 km route.

The 35-year-old Red-Bull-Cora-Hansgrohe knight started the second day behind Spain Enric Mas in the general classification, but arrived at the top of 28 seconds in front of the compatriot of Mas Juan Ayuso.

“Beautiful – I had a lot of fun here,” Rogic said.

“I understood it, I’m ready, the legs are ready, so I had fun practically this week.

“A little holidays and then slowly start building towards the Giro (of Italy).”

Great Britain Simon Yates arrived eighth in the final phase, 19 seconds behind Roglic and ninth in the general classification, a 46 second minute drift.

The British teenager Matthew Brennan, 19 years old, illuminated the first part of the one week race, running to his first victory on the world tour in the opening phase before following his second victory with another sprint goal on stage five.
