Finley’s lawyers, David Courcelle and Scott Stansbury, declared in a statement that Finley purchased a truck used through Facebook marketplace from an individual who presented to Finley “both an invoice and recording, giving (he) every reason to believe that the purchase was legitimate”.
“Within three days from the purchase, Tulane’s police informed TJ that the truck had been reported stolen,” reported the declaration, according to several points of sale on Thursday. “TJ can’t wait to continue cooperating fully with the authorities in the hope of recovering the funds he has lost, bringing criminals to justice and deleting his name and reputation. Tj hopes that this process be completed quickly so that he can go on with his academic and his athletic career.”
According to a court document, Finley was booked on Wednesday in the prison of the parish of Orleans on charges of “illegal possession of stolen things” worth more than $ 25,000. He told the authorities that he had purchased the truck recently and that he has been released on Bond since then for several reports. It has a date of the court set for June 1st.
Tulane suspended Finley on Thursday indefinitely “waiting for the outcome of the case”.
“Due to the federal laws that regulate the privacy of the students, we will not disclose further information regarding the student, including information relating to disciplinary procedures,” said the school in a note.
Tulane’s coach Jon Sumrall faced the situation with journalists on ThursdaySaying: “When things happen out of the field, it’s a shame.
“And I will let the declaration (of the school) say for what it is, but when the boys make mistakes, then they must have a responsibility,” he said.
Tulane marks the fifth collegiate stop for Finley, a multi-tempoula transfer from Poncatoula, the.
