Twins Notes: the first start of David Festa, Byron Buxton’s Legs and Austin Martin injured

Minneapolis-Chiamato by Triple-a St. Paul and inserted the rotation of the minesa twins on Friday to give the other appetizers one more day of rest, David Festa allowed only a race not acquired on 4 2/3 inning against the Detroit Tigers.
Unfortunately, the twin bullpen produced six races in 4 inning 1/3 after the celebration of celebration after 64 shots, leading to a loss of 7-6 that left them to 4-10, which is equally for the second record in 14 games in the history of the team.
Matt Wallner’s launch error on the right Matt Wallner with two outs in the fifth inning allowed the solitary escape of the tigers out of the party, who hit four, he walked one and gave up only three shots, all single. His fast ball was on average 95.2 mph, exceeding 96.7 mph, and Festa obtained seven blows on 16 oscillations against his cursor and gearbox. And he mixed in some of his new shots, a platinum.
“He launched the ball well,” said manager Rocco Baldelli. “His stuff was good. He had a good fast ball. He launched some really good changes and cursors. Overall, it was a very solid trip from him. He did his job. He did exactly what we hoped he would do. And in his last inning, the fifth, he ended up having to work a little, with things around him.”

It was a look at the future of the rotation of the twins, in which the 25 -year -old party proper as a potential main player. And the twins could take another glance to the future on Monday, when it is expected that 24 -year -old Zebby Matthews will be recalled by St. Paul to start instead of the injured Pablo López.
López was put on the list of injured on Friday with a slight voltage of the right knee tendon And he will lose a minimum of 15 days, probably giving Matthews the opportunity to impress in several departures. In the meantime, however, the party was given the first crack on the return to the majors and left a good impression.
“I would like to think I am a little better (last season),” said Festa. “I did a lot of mechanical work. And then (adding) the Platina has helped me a lot in the few departures that I have done so far this year. I think it will help me with the second and third time through the joke. I would like to think that I am always improving. At least this is the goal. We hope this is a trampoline.”
Festa also launched the stretch for twins well as a debutant last season, publishing a 3.81 and 69 Strikeout era in his last 54 inning 1/3. He started this season together with Matthews in the rotation of St. Paul because of the presence of Chris Paddack and Simeon Woods Richardson as the fourth and fifth appetizer of the twins behind López, Joe Ryan and Bailey Ober.
Paddack lost the second half of last year with a tension in the forearm and has an era of 14.73 in two departures this season, which helped to convince the twins that one more free day could do a little good before resuming the mound on Saturday against Detroit. Woods Richardson, who recorded 107 career shots in his latest start, is scheduled for Sunday launch against the tigers.
The depth of rotation projected as a force for the twins this year, with party, Matthews and Andrew Morris who give them three best MLB prospects on Standby in St. Paul, waiting for an accident (such as that of López) or struggles (such as Paddack) to open the window a crack.
Before the festive trip on Friday, the rotation of the twins ranked 26th in MLB with a 5.12 era, but the front office is likely to show patience with Paddack after choosing not to lose its salary of $ 7.5 million through trade in this offseason. Woods Richardson could also face pressure for his place, but the 24 -year -old is part of the future of the twins, unlike the imminent agent Libero Paddack.
In order for the twins to leave the first hole that dug for themselves and remain in the photo of the playoffs, they will need the rotation to make a little heavy lifting, especially if the formation continues to fight. When they are healthy, López, Ryan and Ober are a strong front three, but the twins must be right – and right – about the best adaptations for the last two points.
In execution, relatively
Seven foundations stolen in 14 games are not a big problem, classified for the 24th out of 30 teams, but it is a kind of big problem for the twins. Seven thefts are the maximums that have had through 14 games since 2018, the year before Baldelli took control as manager. And in the previous six seasons under Baldelli, the twins only had 4, 1, 4, 6, 2 and 3 thefts in their first 14 games – an average of 3.3
“I would like to be aggressive on the bases, on a regular basis, on a daily basis,” said Baldelli. “We have some guys who can take advantage of a situation and an opportunity that steals based, and we don’t wait and think too long. Go. We want to go. Be only aggressive. For me, it’s just an aggressive baseball. It is the type of baseball ball you want to play.”
However, in the same breath, Baldelli noticed “will always be dependent on the player”. In other words, having slow players who try to steal the bases is generally an error and the twins rosters rarely gave Baldelli a lot of speed with which to work. Last year’s team was the slowest of MLB and Harrison Bader is the only basic theft threat that the twins added this offseason.
Bader has yet to try a theft, but he will get many green lights from the manager. Willi Castro remains the largest threat of the Gemelli Base theft after guiding the team with 14 last season and 33 in 2023. And now they can bring some speed from the bench with Backup Outfield Dashawn Kearsey Jr., who had one of the two stolen twins on Friday.
But it is the health of the legs of Byron Buxton that could have the greatest impact on the total of the stolen base of the twins. Buxton is removed 18 months from his latest knee surgery and feels healthy as he has done it for a long time, publishing the highest fourth of MLB Media Sprint speed In this season and steal his third base on Friday, as well as hitting his second Homer.
Most games with a home race and a stolen base in the history of twins:
19 – Torii Hunter
15 – Larry feeling
15 – Gary Gaetti
12 – Kirby Puckett
11 – Byron Buxton– Aaron Gleeman (@aarongleeman.bsky.social) 11 April 2025 at 21:48
“It’s nice to be healthy,” said Buxton. “When you are healthy, it gives you that tranquility to go out there and playing the game you want to play. And have fun doing it. Being able to get it back in Arsenal is fun. It makes a little more pressure on the defense. But it also allows the pitcher on the other side to make an error. This is my job, to cause a little chaos.”
Austin Martin Ference, Brooks Lee Rehabbing
The Outfielder/Second base of Triple-A Austin Martin was placed on the seven days of St. Paul on Friday with a voltage at the right knee tendon suffered while chasing a Moscow ball on Thursday evening.
Martin started hot after not being able to create the team of the great league outside the spring training, beating .419 with a percentage based on .526 in eight games, but it will not be an option for the formation in difficulty of the twins for a while.
Austin Martin started strongly and played a game with three shots tonight before this happened in the central field. ☹️

In the meantime, Brooks Lee could approach his return from a spring training back injury, playing his fourth rehabilitation match on Friday. Lee started short of saints and went 1 by 3 with a single and a walk.
Once he is healthy, the twins were able to opt for Lee in St. Paul rather than adding him to the Major League roster. However, it was apparently lined up to be on the roster of the opening day before the accident, and the third base has not so far been productive, with Jose Miranda (nine departures) and Castro (five departures) that combine with Bat .154 while made four mistakes.
