Wayne Bennetts affects the times of Daly Cherry-Evans’ decision to leave Manly

The Roosters also have the funds to add Cherry-Evans to a forward package full of representative players and a backbone with a game prodigy Sam Walker, Captain James German and next season, the NSW Hooker Reece Robson.

A club that is not in the mix for Cherry-Evans is South Sydney. The signatures of Lewis Dodd and Brandon Smith in the last six months have resumed what remains of the club’s wage hood, while also players like Cameron Murray, Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker are with great money.

“We have no money within the salary limit,” said Bennett. “If you don’t have a means of contrast and you are struggling a little, obviously a club will do everything possible to put it your hands on him. They don’t get too often in this way.

“I am sure wherever Daly goes, it will also be good for them. There will be a club that will need a middle vehicle and probably close enough to being the best team, but they don’t only have the right player at half -bait at the moment.

“It is practically without injury. He plays a good football every week, so he is not ready for retirement, this is a place where he is not going.”

However, Bennett, who has long criticized the Nrl commercial window, said that the Cherry-Evans saga was a bad look for the game.

“This does nothing for the game. It does nothing for the club. It’s wrong and I would like us to adjust it,” said Bennett.

“You don’t see it in the Australian rules, they are our main competitors. We pressed the four -week self -destroying button in a football season that has already provided excellent football.

“The entire focus is on what a couple of players or clubs have done. So, the clubs have done the case. It shouldn’t happen. It shouldn’t be allowed to happen.”
