Women of Wales: the support has improved the United States – Rachel Rowe

Rowe believes that the inaugural performance of Wales in an important tournament can be a transformative moment for football in Wales.
“2025 is a moment of great change,” he said. “So far there has been so much development, but this is the perfect opportunity, externally, to take women’s football seriously.
“There has always been this expectation, but sometimes resources do not satisfy this expectation.
“We have built as a nation for years; women’s football is building for years to get to something great.
“It happened with England to the euros and my hope of reaching an important tournament is that it filters itself in the Adran championships and there is a change in this and more investments, and in five or 10 years we can see progress.”
Wales started their Nations League campaign with a close 1-0 defeat in Italy before shocking Sweden with a 1-1 draw in Wrexham.
Rowe, who lost the game in Sweden with an injury, felt that the competition underlined the new Wales philosophy under the boss Rhian Wilkinson, who wants Wales to be more courageous in possession.
“We are transforming ourselves into a nation playing football,” said Rowe. “We have always been pedaling on our defensive organization and we are difficult to break, here’s what our identity has always been, but now we are developing in something else.
“This is because we are given free frenetic to do it, and in the past it has not been given to us. In a training field, anyone can keep the ball, but to do it in a game with high poses and where the results have consequences, it is exciting.”
