Yuki Tsunoda: how is it a replacement driver of F1?

Lawson’s decoction means that he will compete for Red Bull’s team racing bulls this weekend.
The 23 -year -old New Zealand is certainly not the first to have experienced it in Red Bull, with the team that developed a reputation to be excellent to give young talents a chance, but ruthless with a pilot if they believe that it is not working.
In 2016, Daniil Kvyat was abandoned after two high -profile accidents with the then teammate Sebastian Vettel at the Russian Grand Prix, the fourth race of the season.
The current world champion Max Verstappen, who was 18 at the time, was promoted to replace Kvyat and the Dutchman made an immediate impression while he won the Spanish Grand Prix – his first race for Red Bull and one who made him the youngest winner in the history of F1.
Verstappen continued to dominate sport while Kvyat’s Formula 1 career never really recovered. He had a couple of seasons with Toro Rosso and Alphatauri, but he ran to several series “since 2022.
Last season Sergio Perez was Verstappen’s teammate, but suffered a difficult series of shapes while fighting with the RB20 and was dropped by Red Bull at the end of the year.
“When I joined Red Bull, there were great drivers who had fought – Alex (Albon), Pierre (Gasly), are fantastic drivers and fought”, Perez told F1.com, external
“For me, it was very simple, the car is quite difficult to get 100%, to trust it – and the things I fought with, Adrian (Newey, former head of the team design) also spoke about it.”
Alguersuari knows all too well how difficult sport can be with all the pressure to perform, in particular to Red Bull.
He spent three seasons in F1 since 2009, mainly running for the Junior team of Red Bull Toro Rosso, where he scored 25 of the 40 points of the team in 2011, but lost the journey there at the end of that season.
“Red Bull as the ability to make you feel outside of your comfort area, to make you doubt yourself,” added Alguersuari.
“Red Bull is a car to destroy drivers because they have this mentality and philosophy of what does not kill you make you stronger. So they always push you and put pressure on you.
“Even in Toro Rosso they asked me to win a race or in another way it was not good enough. You had the feeling of not being quite good and unless you are world champion.”
